Wolfgang Puck Coffee Maker

Doubletree Hotels have a Wolfgang Puck Dual Coffee Maker in their rooms, or at least the one in Skokie, Illinois did, and here is my review and thoughts after a week.

Quick Overview
Pros:

Cons:

Now a little background first. I was leading a 6 day and 5 night computer security bootcamp for The SANS Institute, one of my favorite clients, so I pretty much needed plenty of caffeine. And plenty of caffeine I had!

The Wolfgang Puck Dual Coffee Maker has some features I loved. It a standard pod-style coffee maker, so Senseo or other type pods are interchangeable/useable. It makes one or two single cups of 8 ounce coffee at a time. I do like the option of making two although I didn't use it this time. I also like the gentle "beep" it makes when the coffee is done, as well as the indicator light.

It came with a couple of Wolfgang Puck pods a couple of decaf pods - I didn't try the decaf pods. The hotel also served Wolfgang Puck coffee.

Now a quick word on the coffee. I don't really like Puck's coffee. It's not bad, but it is very far from great. It's a middle of the road "good" coffee - light years better than stuff in cans like Maxwell House, but nothing special. To my taste it's a bit weak and bland, but tastes do vary.

I also made my own pods with a Costa Rican La Minita Coffee which was way better. I found I needed a bit more coffee than usual to make a good strong cup. This may be as the coffee seemed hot enough but not that hot overall. Others have commented that the coffee wasn't that hot either.

Also, I spilled a little water most mornings pouring it in. The opening is not that big, at least for me before my first cup of the morning!

Wolfgang Puck Dual Coffee MakerThe Wolfgang Puck Dual Coffee Maker is rated for commercial use, which makes perfect sense for a hotel, and I'll assume that it will hold up well for home use unless readers or other reviewers comment otherwise.

Cleanup is very easy with its removable filter holder, and it's fairly small at 12" by 10" by 14½"  high. It comes with a manufacturer's 1 year warranty.

Several reviewers have commented that it is great, and I'll agree it is pretty good but nothing really special. The price is right, approximately $60-$70 dollars as of this writing, and I'm looking forward to my next Doubletree stay as I was psyched to have it in my hotel room!

Ideal for:

Someone  who wants a small and very convenient coffee maker that wants very good coffee brewed one or two cups at a time. If you are an "ultimate coffee connoisseurs" this is not for you, but for most coffee lovers, especially really busy ones, this machine will rock.

Should I have more feedback when I stay in another Doubletree, my next is already booked, I'll be sure to update!
