Single Serve Coffee Maker
Convenient and Fast Great Tasting Coffee
Senseo is a sleek modern pod based coffee maker that maker a very nice single cup, or two single cups at once.
These coffee pods are prepackaged ground coffee beans in their own filter, and called coffee pads in some countries like Germany. You can also make your own pods with whatever coffee you'd like.
The Senseo is a very convenient and fast machine with close to zero cleanup, much like the Kuerig and Tassimo machines. Convenience are these machines strongest points, with no coffee grounds or filters to deal with, and the coffee is a strong point too.
What distinguishes the Senseo from similar machines, is that it puts a wonderful "froth" on top of the coffee somewhat like espresso. Normal drip coffee makers brew without pressure, espresso machines brew with 9+ bars of pressure, and Senseo's patented brewing system brews with 1.2 bars of pressure and in under a minute, producing a nice "froth" or "head" on the coffee. This gives the coffee a wonderful silky smooth feel and taste!
The Senseo SL7810/65
is the most popular model and
costs around 65 or 70 dollars online. It can make a 4 ounce or 8 ounce
cup of coffee. Most people like to use 2 pods when they produce an 8
ounce cup including myself, and quite honestly 8 ounces of coffee is not
that much - even a "small" at Starbucks, or whatever silly name they
insist on calling it, is 12 ounces. This isn't to denigrate the Senseo,
just be aware that you may be using two pods per pretty small cup on
coffee.

The Senseo SL7832/55
is a newer and more expensive model, with $140 being a very good price.
It has a few more features. It allows you to adjust the height of the
mechanism for larger cups or mugs by about an inch, it has an indicator
light that shows when there is less than 2 cups of water left, it has
larger water reservoir, and it lets you select between 3, 4, 5, 6 ,8, or
10 ounce cups of coffee.
It costs about twice as much as the Senseo SL7810/65
and people are divided as to whether it's worth it or not. The coffee
tastes the same to me, and I don't think it's worth twice the price,
although it's a wonderful coffee maker. Click Here to read the reviews.
The Senseo can also make tea, and there are Senseo Cappuccino Pods
available. They have mixed reviews. They're not bad, but a serious
barista will insist they are not real cappucino.
